Web design on a budget: What are the must-haves for my site?
Everyone always thinks that a website has to be expensive, however this isn’t the case. You can have a very well made, bespoke website made these days and it doesn’t have to break the bank. To keep costs low, it is best to determine exactly what you need on your website and what your ‘must-haves’ are! If you are unsure, we have complied a small list of what we think is essential:
This might sound obvious, but you would be surprised at the number of websites that do not have any way for a potential client to contact them! Straight away you have lost business and they have gone elsewhere. Whether you have a contact form, a ‘Contact Us’ page with your phone number and email address on, links to your social media – it doesn’t matter which, but make sure you are contactable! And also, that you reply in a timely manner. There is nothing worse than contacting a company that doesn’t reply or takes a month to get back to you.
Call to Action
Whatever your business is, always have a continual ‘Call To Action’ (CTA) on your website. Whether you have an online booking system to take appointments, they complete a form for you to give them a call back or they call you – on every page (ideally in the same place on each page), always have a CTA. Make the customer do something, ask them to contact you for a quote, or ask them to book an appointment – make it all very easy and accessible, in a prominent place and they will contact you.
Again, another obvious one…but tell people what you actually do. What service(s) you provide. I have been on more websites than I care to remember that do not tell you what services they provide, and frankly, it is really hard to tell what they actually do as a business! I recently went onto a website and I honestly couldn’t tell if they were lawyers, an IT company or cut grass! If you offer thousands of services, you don’t need to list them all, pick out your most popular and give a brief overview of what this consists of.
Linking back to our blog last week, ‘Do I Need A Logo?’, we discussed the importance of a logo. Again, this doesn’t have to be expensive, but you MUST have a logo – you need something which is going to identify you, people are going to recognise your brand.
As always, if you want any advice or to discuss how we can help with a simplistic, clean website, then please get in touch today!
