Why Is Nobody Visiting My Website?
So you have your shiny new website, your business is raring to go but no-one is visiting your website…what do you do? This is a question we get asked often and there are plenty of small adjustments you can make to drive more traffic to your website. Here are 5 questions to ask yourself that could help to drive traffic to your website:
Is My Website User-Friendly?
Ensuring that your website is user-friendly across all platforms is key – if a potential customer finds it difficult to access your website, then they will most likely look elsewhere. If you display prices, a portfolio of work, testimonials on your website, remember that not everyone is tech savvy and they do not want to look to the ends of the earth to find out how much it is for you to cut their grass or plaster their kitchen. Having a simple design often works in your favour – remember, less is more.
Is My Website Accessible On All Devices?
When working with a web designer, always ensure that you see different versions of your website across different platforms – desktop, mobile & tablet. In 2018, 48% of users connect to the internet using a smart phone, with only 24% using a laptop, 15% using a tablet and 9% using a desktop. It’s great to make sure your website looks pretty and is fully functioning on a desktop, however make sure if it is accessible and has a full user interface to use on a smart phone or tablet as well – there is nothing worse than trying to access a website on a mobile and it isn’t compatible and all of the forms are stretched out and images are blurred!
Am I Active Enough On Social Media?
The answer is…you can never post too much on social media! These platforms are built to be social, to post images to, show case videos, ask peoples opinion and engage with your audience! The more you post on social media, the more your social footprint expands and the more you are found online. Engage with your customers on all platforms – but more importantly, keep active! There is nothing worse than a company who had social media that never posts on it or the last post was back in the cave man times. If you have a busy schedule, use websites such as Canvas or HootSuite where you can spend a Sunday morning being a social butterfly and scheduling all your posts for any time or day you wish – so while you are out walking your dog or at a meeting with a client, your Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are all updating and engaging your audience. If the very thought of social media scares you then it may be time to hire a social media manager who can help you!
Should I Advertise?
Advertising is a great way of promoting your business, whether you are a start up or you have just reached your 25-year mile stone of trading. Advertising doesn’t always have to be expensive and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Digital advertising is so accessible these days that it can be done for as little as £10 and straight from your mobile! Platforms such as Facebook will even guide you on what or how to advertise, they simply ask what you want to achieve: more likes, receive more messages, advertise a certain product – then they simply do the rest. If done correctly, advertising is a very powerful tool.
